Description

The Virginia halfpenny was authorized by the British Crown for the Virginia colony in America and struck at the London Tower Mint. The so called Virginia Penny was trial or test striking on a larger planchet for the smaller halfpenny.

Obverse: Portrait of George III, GEORGIVS III . R E X.

Reverse: Coat of arms of the House of Hanover, NIA 1773 VIRGI

Penny Diameter : 27 mm
Halfpenny Diameter: 24.6 mm

Stamped with the word copy
Copper plated lead free pewter, made in the USA
Packaged in a coin collecting flip with the description of coin printed on flip insert.
