1737 Higley Copper – Broad Axe Replica Coin
Strucked by Dr. Samuel Higley from his copper mine in Granby, Connecticut. After local protest of the threepence value he gave his first coinage, he change the design and added the incription VAULE ME AS YOU PLEASE but he left the Roman III value on the obverse. Legend has it that drinks atthe local tavern cost three pence each and Higley would pay his bar tab with his own coins. This coin is extremely rare.
The obverse depicts a deer wti the legend VALUE ME AS YOU PLEASE III
The reverse has a Broad Axe and legend J CUT BY WAY THROUGH

Copper plated lead free fine pewter.
