Tetradrachm of Katane, 410-405 B.C. B.M.C. #35
Katane, located at the foot of Mount Etna in Sicily.
Obverse: Quadriga at a high gallop, steering around an Ionic column (turning-post), Nike flying above holding wreath and tablet inscribed EYAIN. Pellet under horses’ feet, crab below exergual line.
Reverse: Head of Apollo, in front bell on a knotted fillet, crayfish behind, KATANAIWN.
Diameter: 26 mm
BECKER, BMC 35 Stamped on the rim
Silver-plated, made in the USA
Packaged in a coin collecting flip with the description of coin printed on flip insert.
