M. Opelius Marcrinus was born in 164  A.D.  became prefect of the Praetorian guards under Caracalla.
Marcrinus gave the orders to murder the unpopular Emperor Caracalla in
217 A.D.

Obverse: – IMP . C . M . OPEL . SEV . MACRINVS AVG . , Laurel and draped bust
Reverse: – SALVS PVBLICA., Salus seated feeding serpent arising from altar.

Diameter: 18 mm
