Description

The die for this coin was engraved by Col. Paul Revere of Boston. It is speculated that the heads on the obverse were supposed to refer to the Whig and Tory parties of 1776. The original of this coin is very rare and valuable. In November of 1979 the original coin sold for $42,000.

Obverse: Three heads facing left, front, and right, with inscription STATE OF MASSA. 1/2 D.

Reverse: Goddess of Liberty facing right, resting against a globe inscribed GODDESS LIBERTY 1776

Diameter: 25 mm

Copper plated lead free fine pewter.
