Description

Massachusetts New England Coinage Pine Tree Sixpence Replica Coin 1652

The Massachusetts Colony General Court granted permission in 1652 to have die prepared for silver coinage. The first coins in the series were the New England (NE) coinage, Shilling, Sixpence, and Threepence. The obverse of the New England series has NE struck on the obverse and a Roman numeral on the reverse designating the valuation of the coin (XII for the Shilling, VI for the sixpence, and III for the threepence). These were the first coins struck in the British American thirteen colonies.

The Pine Tree Shilling was the last series of the silver colonial coinage of Massachusetts.

The original coins are extremely rare so these coins would make a great addition to your Colonial America coin collection.

This is a quality replica created by Peter Rosa from impressions he obtained from the British Museum. Copies of these coins are sold by others but no one can match the quality of this original work.

Diameter: 20 mm

Silver plated lead-free fine pewter.
