Ptolemy IV was the son of Ptolemy III and Berenice II. Under the reign of Ptolemy IV, the decline of the Ptolemaic Kingdom began. Ptolemy IV lacked his father’s strength of character, and most of his time was spent in self-indulgences and drunken orgies.
