Dated 1723

William Hood from England, obtained a patent form George I in 1722 to make coins for Ireland and the American colonies.

Obverse: Head of King George I. Legend – GEORGIUS D:G MAG: BRI: FRA: ET. HIB: REX (“George, by the Grace of God, King of Great Britain, France, and Ireland”)

Reverse: Rose with crown above it. Legend – ROSA AMERICANA UTILE DULCI (“American Rose, Useful and Pleasant”).

This is a museum quality replica created by Peter Rosa from impressions he obtained from the British Museum and is made from his original molds. Copies of these coins are sold by others but no one can match the quality of his original work. You will not fine a better exact replica of this coin anywhere
