1795 Talbot, Allum & Lee Cent

William Talbot, William Allum, and James Lee had an import business at 241 Water Street in lower New York City. They had a large quantity of coppers made and placed into circulation to advertise their business.

On the obverse of these copper tokens dated 1794 and 1795 is the image of the standing goddess of Liberty with a bale representng commerce with the inscription LIBERTY & COMMERCE.

This 1795 version as has a fully rigged sailing ship with the inscription, AT THE STORE OF TALBOT ALLUM & LEE, NEW YORK.

Diameter: 28 mm

Copper plated lead free fine pewter.
