Reverse: IΣTΡIH, sea-eagle left on dolphin, Δ under eagle’s tail, ΡX monogram beneath dolphin (head of Ρ turned inwards)

The ancient city of Istros was founded in the second half of the seventh century B.C. It was situated on the coast of the Black Sea just south of the Danube.
It is proposed that the inverted heads of the sun-god Apollo represent the rising and setting sun god.
