The Draped Bust series were struck from 1796-1807. The original coins were minted in Philadelphia with a composition of Copper.

One of the assassins of Julius Caesar, he later joined forces with Brutus and they were defeated by Marc Antony and Octavian. He committed suicide during battle of Philippi in 42 B.C. This issue refers to the appointment of Lentulus to the college of Augurs. Lentulus was sent by Cassius to help Brutus.

The reverse type refers to Brutus’ victories in Thrace and it is believed that these coins were struck from silver obtained from Polemocratia, the widow of the Thracian prince Sadala.
