Description

On July 24, 1715, after more than a two-year delay a twelve or thirteen-ship convoy left Cuba for Spain loaded with silver and gold treasure. They traveled up the coast of Florida and on the 30th of July ran straight into a hurricane sinking the entire fleet. In the late 1950s modern salvage began on the 1715 fleet. Many of these coins are available today due to the fact that they did not make it to Spain where they would have been melted down.
