William Hood’s Hibernia Coinage
1724 Hibernia Halfpenny and Farthing

William Hood from England, obtained a patent from King George I in 1722 to make coins for Ireland and the American colonies.
The Hibernia coinage was struck in London England for circulation in Ireland and also could be found circulating in the American colonies.

Obverse: GEORGIUS DEI GRATIA REX, head of King George facing right.

Reverse: HIBERNIA 1724, seated figure with harp to the left.

Halfpenny: 26 mm
Farthing: 22 mm

Stamped with the word copy
Copper plated, made in the USA
Packaged in a coin collecting flip with the description of coin printed on flip insert.
