1794 United States Flowing Hair Silver Dollar Replica Coin
The 1794 United States Flowing Hair Silver Dollar is one of American history’s most famous and valuable coins. It was the first silver dollar coin the newly formed United States government issued. Its design features the profile of Lady Liberty with flowing hair on the obverse and an eagle with outstretched wings on the reverse.
Robert Scot, the Chief Engraver of the United States Mint at the time, designed the coin. The design was inspired by a portrait of Lady Liberty created by artist Gilbert Stuart, widely known and admired in the late 18th century. The eagle, on the reverse, was also a famous symbol of American identity and patriotism.
1794 Flowing Hair Silver Dollar was struck in a relatively small quantity, with only about 1,758 coins minted. However, due to its rarity and historical significance, it is highly sought after by coin collectors and investors. In 2013, one of these coins sold for a record-breaking $10 million at auction, making it one of the most valuable coins in the world.
