1796 Castorland Medal

Castorland was a proposed French settlement in Carthage, New York at the time of the French Revolution.

Obverse: Crowned head of goddess, possibly Ceres, with CASTORLAND below head, FRANCO-AMERICANA COLONIA, 1796

Reverse: Standing goddess, possibly Ceres, holding a cornucopia, with a maple tree. A tap in the trees, complete with spigot, sap pouring in bucket, beaver below. Around border AALVE MAGNA PARENS FRUGUM

Diameter: 32 mm

Silver plated lead free fine pewter.
