Description

One of the assassins of Julius Caesar, he later joined forces with Brutus and they were defeated by Marc Antony and Octavian. He committed suicide during battle of Philippi in 42 B.C.

Obverse: – C . CASSO . IMP., Diad. head of Liberty

Reverse: – MSERVILIVS . LEG, aplustre with branches terminating in flowers

Diameter: 19.5 mm

Struck by M. Servilius Legate, at a military mint at Sardis.  The final issue of Cassius. This reverse type commemorates the capture of Rhodes by Cassius.
