CLEOPATRA I, wife of Ptolemy V, daughter of Antiochos III

Cleopatra I Syra (204–176 BC) was a queen of Ptolemaic Egypt, the wife of Ptolemy V, and the mother regent for her minor son, Ptolemy VI Philometor.

Cleopatra I, was born in Syria as a princess of the Seleucid Empire, the daughter of Antiochus III the Great and Laodice III. Her marriage to Ptolemy V in 193 BC was part of a peace agreement known as the Treaty of Raphia, which ended the conflict between the Seleucid and Ptolemaic empires. This marked the first time a Ptolemaic queen was not of Macedonian Greek descent, a significant departure from tradition.

Ptolemy V died in 180 BC, leaving Cleopatra I as regent for their young son, Ptolemy VI.
