The EID-MAR or “Ides of March” is one of the most historically and politically significant coins in history. The Roman denarius commemorates the assassination of dictator Julius Caesar in 44 BC. EID-MAR signifies the date that Caesar was assassinated “March 15th”. the two daggers representing the two assassins, Brutus and Cassius. Between the daggers is a slave freedom cap, the cap was a symbol of liberty opposing dictators like Caesar.
