Nero Claudius Caesar Augustus Germanicus was born in 37 A.D. as Lucius Domitius Ahenobarbus. He was the only son of Gnaeus Domitius Ahenobarbus and Agrippina the Younger sister of Emperor Caligula. He was adopted by his great-uncle Emperor Claudius to become heir to the throne. He succeeded to the throne in 54 A.D. following the death of Claudius. Nero ruled from 54 to 68 A.D.
The last Roman emperor of the Julio-Claudian dynasty.
