Lucius Septimius Severus
Septimius Severus was a Roman emperor who ruled from 193 to 211 AD. He was born in Leptis Magna, a city in the Roman province of Africa, and rose through the ranks of the Roman military to become a general. He seized power in a civil war following the death of Emperor Pertinax and established the Severan dynasty. During his reign, he campaigned against the Parthians and other barbarian tribes and significantly changed the Roman legal system. He died in Eboracum (York, England) while preparing for another campaign against the Caledonians.
