Description
Thasos, Island of Thrace, Circa 390-380 BC. The island was important in the wine trade and also controlled rich silver mines on the mainland.
Obverse: Bearded head of Dionysos left, wreathed with ivy leaves.
Reverse: ΘAΣ-IOY, Herakles kneeling right in archer’s stance, drawing bow; caduceus before.
Diameter: 26 mm
