Favorite of Hadrian, Died 130

The companion and lover of Emperor Hadrian.  He died by drowning in the River Nile.  Hadrian was so distraught after his death, he deified Antinous and created the city of Antinopolis along the Nile where he had drowned.

Obverse: ANTINOOV HPWOC, draped bust left

Reverse: LK, Antinous as Hermes, carrying caduceus on horseback advancing right.

Diameter: 32mm

Material:  Bronze

Hand finished patina, made in the USA.

Packaged in a coin collecting flip with the description of coin printed on flip insert.
