Athens Tetradrachm
Athens in central Greece was an important cultural and political center throughout the 5th century B.C. Athena on the obverse of their coins was the divinity of Attica. Athena was the goddess of war and the protector of cities. The owl was her character of a goddess of the night, and the olive was regarded as her gift to Attica.
