Description

Ulpius Cornelius Laelianus

Laelianus declared himself emperor at Moguntiacum in February/March 269. after repulsing a Germanic invasion.  Laelianus represented a strong danger to Postumus because of the two legions he commanded.  His rebellion lasted only about two months before he was executed by his own soldiers, or by Postumus’ troops after a siege of Laelianus’ capital.

Obverse:  IMP C LAELIANVS P F AVG, laureate and cuirassed bust right
Reverse:  TEMPORVM FELICITAS, female figure reclining left, holding branch in right hand and resting left arm on a hare.
