The Virginia halfpenny was authorized by the British Crown for the Virginia colony in America and struck at the London tower mint. The so called Virginia Penny was trial or test striking on a larger planchet of the smaller halfpenny.

Reverse: Coat of arms of the House of Hanover, NIA 1773 VIRGI
